Thrust Roller Bearing
Thrust roller bearing is used to bear the axial load and radial combined load, but the radial load shall not exceed 55% of the axial load. Compared with other thrust roller bearings, this kind of bearing has lower friction coefficient, higher speed and self-aligning performance.
Self-aligning Thrust Roller Bearings are preferred for axial load applications, as they provide higher rigidity in comparison to other types.
Thrust Roller Bearings are of three types:
1. Cylindrical Roller Thrust Bearings
Cylindrical roller thrust bearings can only handle axial loads, but support high load applications and provide high axial stiffness. The cage is made of machined brass.
Cylindrical Roller Thrust Bearings Features
• Ideal for low speeds
• High load capacity/high rigidity
• The simple design of the structure provides high axial load capacity and rigidity.
• Cylindrical roller thrust bearings are not suitable for high speeds due to the poor sliding of the rollers.
Cylindrical Roller Thrust Bearings Applications
Rotary tables for machine tools, pulverizer turntables, extruders
2. Tapered Roller Thrust Bearings
Tapered thrust roller bearings are designed for true rolling motion, extending bearing life and increasing load capacity.
3. Spherical Roller Thrust Bearings
Spherical roller thrust bearings are self-aligning and are immune to mounting errors and shaft deflection. Spherical Roller Thrust Bearings provide high thrust capacity with low friction and continuous roller alignment - even if the shaft and housing are misaligned during operation.
Spherical Roller Thrust Bearings Features
Correct misalignment
The spherical raceway surface of the race makes the spherical roller bearing self-aligning.
High load capacity
Spherical roller bearings provide high axial load capacity and a certain radial load capacity when an axial load is applied.
Spherical Roller Thrust Bearings Application
Wholesale spherical roller thrust bearing is a self-aligning bearing. In service, it allows a maximum shaft misalignment of about 2 degrees. The contact angle helps this type of bearing to handle a small amount of radial load. Widely applied in air preheater, extruder, injection molding machine, excavator, crane etc.
Note: Lubrication of these bearings needs to be done carefully, since their large sliding contact area results in smearing. Care should be taken to maintain at least rated minimum load on this bearing, to avoid smearing.
We can offer the following variants:
• Single Direction Spherical Roller Thrust Bearings – 292, 293 and 294 series
• Pressed steel and machined brass cage
• Standard precision P0 and higher precision P6.

Can cylindrical roller thrust bearings be used without positioning according to the outer diameter of the outer ring?
The fixed side ring (outer ring) does not require particularly precise positioning; however, rails should be used to prevent the raceway from moving and protruding from the rolling surface of the rollers.
Where are roller thrust bearings used?
Thrust roller bearings are available with cylindrical or spherical rollers and only carry axial loads, but are suitable for heavy loads and provide high axial stiffness. Due to their slim design, these bearings require very little axial space. Cylindrical roller thrust bearings are suitable for low to medium speed applications and are commonly found in everyday applications such as garden machinery and motorcycles.
